Congresso internacional da Indústria do Trigo

International Wheat  Industry Congress

The International Wheat Industry Congress is one of the main wheat chain events in Brazil. In 2017, close to 550 participants from various countries are expected. These will include wheat producers, representatives from mills, the baking and derivatives industries, government, agribusiness and sector associations.

During three days – October 22, 23 and 24, more than a dozen specialists will assess and discuss the challenges facing one of the most important agribusiness chains in Brazil, in a series of talks, debates and round table discussions to be held at the Hotel Royal Palm Plaza, Campinas, in the state of São Paulo. A Business Fair will take place in parallel, with the presentation of new products and cutting edge machinery, equipment, systems and technologies.

The XXIV International Wheat Industry Congress represents an excellent opportunity to stay abreast of what is happening in the industry and to ensure competitiveness. Enroll now. You cannot afford to miss this key event.

Focused on excellence in the production of wheat flour and on the health of mankind  and the planet, for 26 years ABITRIGO has been dedicated to restructuring and integrating the entire wheat production chain in Brazil, forging closer links between producers and buyers and disseminating the important health benefits the cereal offers the public.

It is not by chance that our 24th International Wheat Industry Congress, to be held in Campinas, São Paulo from October 22 to 24, has as its central theme The Power of the Mills. Our objective is precisely that of underscoring and reinforcing the importance of the unity of all the links in the production chain, from the field to the transformation industry.

ABITRIGO believes that convergence on all the fronts is essential to enable us to deliver clean, healthy, high value wheat to an ever more demanding consumer. Synergies within the chain drive higher quality, higher production, higher sales and, consequently, higher profitability. It is a path from which there is no return, made even more crucial by the economic and political challenges our country is facing.

The International Wheat Industry Congress is currently the most important event in our sector, bringing together representatives of the food industry, the government, producers and millers for open discussion of the questions which pose a challenge to us all. It is the ideal stage for proposing ways forward for questions related to regulation, finance, growing and healthfulness, among others.

During our encounter, we will address economic and political scenarios and outlooks for the global market and their implications for Brazil, in addition to examining trends and offering tips related to agribusiness in the country, with a focus on wheat. We will receive representatives of the Brazilian government and key international players to discuss commercial interests, with an emphasis on MERCOSUR.

We are aware that one of the restrictions in the business environment is regulation.  Accordingly, regulatory convergence will be one of the themes addressed in the congress in a much needed debate centered on Brazil and the main wheat exporting countries with a view to facilitating the business environment. To do this, we have to advance in phytosanitary questions, in the enhancement of production processes to ensure the delivery of quality products, while guaranteeing sustainability and traceability in production.

For this edition, we have created a special panel: The Power of the Mills in Brazil, which will provide congress goers - millers, agricultural producers, members of the business community and wheat chain scholars  – with an overview of the work done by ABITRIGO. We want to share the high quality content this body is producing with the whole of society. All the participants will learn about the Statistics Project, an unprecedented study developed by FGV Agro, one of the consultancies we have contracted to diagnose, characterize, systematize data and undertake social and economic monitoring of the entire wheat chain aimed at establishing its significance for Brazil.

We will also take advantage of having the entire sector present to launch our new online platform to incentivize the consumption of wheat and its derivatives. It unifies and represents an evolution of the Gluten Contains Information and the Wheat is Health projects, with the objective of underscoring the importance of wheat flour in people's lives. We will talk about the modernization of our association and the deliveries which will enable a broader positioning in terms of knowledge and representation of the wheat chain.

Healthy eating habits are also featured in the program. Fitness coach Marcio Atalla will address the incredible changes in behavior we are seeing in the world and particularly in Brazil, which reflect the public's pursuit of improved quality of life.

We invite you all to visit and take advantage of the Business Fair, in which dozens of machinery, equipment, technology and input providers will be presenting their latest product and service launches for the wheat chain. This represents an excellent opportunity to develop and strengthen relations with suppliers and to negotiate deals in an especially welcoming environment.

We are certain that this will be a special edition, replete with high quality contents and debates and discussions that will help drive the competitiveness of the milling industry.

I wish all participants an excellent congress.

Rubens Barbosa
